this was today’s project :) gouache and ink painting of Diana and Apollo from Greek and Roman mythology.
The Doctor as Saint Anthony of Padua (Doctor of the Church and Patron Saint of Travelers). In his arms there is a young River Song/Melody Pond. Also threw in other bits of Doctor Who imagery - the Tardis, the journal, an old-series key to the Tardis, as well as Pandorica and circular Gallifreyan inspired design for the halos.

okay so I’m doing this painting.. I started it a week or so ago (BEFORE a Good Man Goes To War) It’s the Doctor as Saint Anthony of Padua, doctor of the church and patron saint of travelers. I’m not done, obviously, I still need to do the Doctor’s face and finish the child, but here’s the question -
should I do a young Amy Pond (as I was originally planning before i found out who River was) OR my rendition of young River/Melody Pond ?

I had this idea to do the Doctor, Rory, and maybe River as saints - so this is going to be Rory as Jude Thaddeus, patron saint of lost causes, inspired of course by his 200 year guarding of the pandorica. I clearly still have a lot to do - have to finish his face, fix his arms and lopsided halo, add details, etc. But just wanted to show how far I’ve gotten todayy :)
